Kesher Update
Kesher Teen Program – Our Kesher Teen Program is comprised of our 8th – 12th Grade Torah Center Classes, Madrichim Program, and ANDI Youth Group. Our Temple Israel teens have many on-ramps for participation. Teens may participate in one, two, or all three aspects of our Kesher Program.
Torah Center Classes (Religious School) – Temple Israel’s Torah Center classes meet most Sundays by grade level. We explore topics such as Jewish Identity, Social Action, Sacred Jewish Relationships, Comparative Judaism, Comparative Religion, Current Events and Issues through a Jewish lens, as well as Jewish music, art, and culture. We grow and explore together.
Madrichim Program – Our teens volunteer on a weekly basis in our religious school and have the opportunity to give back to our community by working with our younger Torah Center students. Teens model for our younger children what it means to be an active Jewish individual.
Youth Group – Temple Israel youth groups enthusiastically serve our 6th through 12th grade students – helping them build community, Jewish identity, and leadership skills.
- TI 67 is Temple Israel’s middle school youth group. TI 67 typically holds quarterly social activities, regional events with other Reform congregations in the area, and an overnight retreat. All events include fun, community building activities and informal Jewish learning, and social justice programming.
- ANDI (Adolescents Now Doing Incredible Things) is Long Beach’s largest 8th thru 12th grade Jewish youth group and a proud chapter of the Reform Movement’s North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY). All programs are planned by our student-run ANDI board with guidance from our Youth Director. ANDI plans many social, cultural, and social action events, including the popular TI Lock-in, the ANDI All-Nighter, the Teen Rosh Hashanah Service, and the religious school Purim shpiel. Regional weekend NFTY retreats are another highlight!
