Caring for Our Furry Friends: What’s Happening at the Animal Shelter
- Date: Sunday, October 22, 2023
- Time: 1:00pm–2:00pm
Location: Education Center of the P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village
(7700 E. Spring St., Long Beach)
Enter at the south kiosk at Spring St. and El Dorado Park (as if going to the Nature Center); let the staff know that you’re going to the shelter and follow the paw prints to the parking lot. Look for the Education Center sign.
As we read about Noah, we are reminded of our responsibilities toward caring for and protecting the animals around us. Join us, as we visit the P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village in Long Beach and learn more about the ground-breaking partnership between private rescue, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) and municipal animal shelter, Long Beach Animal Care Services (LBACS). Speakers from both organizations will discuss the history of each agency, their programs and classes, as well as what is in store for the future. Additionally, you’ll learn some tips for enriching the lives of your own household pets and get to take a tour of this remarkable facility! Please consider bringing new or gently-used blankets and towels, new dog/cat toys, or unopened dog/cat food or treats to donate.
